A bird's complete love
There once was a holy man who was considered to be the messenger of god.
"I am the messenger of God ,"he thought to himself one day, filled with pride." He is pleased with me and loves none other more than me."
"O God!" he prayed, " tell me if there is another who loves and thinks about you more than I "
God replied, " I have many lovers."
"Please name one," the holy man urged.
"Leaving humans out of it for a moment, I will tell you about a bird that lives on a certain tree. Just go and talk to him."
"But I don't understand his language."
"Go! I give you the gift of understanding his language."
The holy man approached the bird who was sitting on the tree and asked," Tell me something about God."
"I have no time for talk," answered the bird. " I have only talked this much because you have come from my beloved."
" What keeps you so busy that you have no time to spare?" the holy man enquired.
"Day and night I sit in meditation of the lord, But I do have one problem," said the bird.
" What is that?" the holy man asked.
" I have to fly to a spring far away to drink water."
" How far is the spring?"
" It is across those wheat fields."
"That is not very far."
" How am i to make you understand? said the bird." It is a serious problem for me, as i have to interrupt my rememberance of him to go there."You are a human, You are blessed with the capabilities of remembering him all the time even if you have a task to complete."
The holy man thanked the lord for granting him human life and he then asked,
" How then can i be of any service to you?"
"Just bring the spring closer to me," the bird requested.
" That is not possible," he regretted.
"Then you can be of no help to me," the bird answered and went back to the repetition of Wahegurooo.
The lovers of the Lord remain completely absored in thinking of him all the time. Their condition is like that of a crow who comes and sits on a ship that is about to sail. Once the ship takes to the sea, the crow has no where to go. With the sea Underneath and the sky above, he has no choice but to return to the ship whenever he takes flight.

Alexander the Great's Last Wish
After conquering most of then known world and leading his army deep into northwestern India. Alexander the Great was about to return to his homeland. He consulted the astrologers and asked if they could tell him how and when he was going to die.
Their Calculations showed that his life was short; in gact, it was almost at an end. They did not want to lie, and yet the truth would put their lives in danger.
"O Mighty King!" the cheif astrologer told the great conqueror, after much deliberation,"our calculations show that you will not die until the earth turns into iron and the sky is transformed into gold."
"Aha," thought Alexander to himself, "miracles such as this will take ages to come to pass. Maybe I'll never die."
But as he rode westward towards Persia,he suffererd a severe attack of malaria while passing through the Seistan Desert, now in Southwestern Afghanistan. " A fever has come over me," Alexander said to his cheif minister riding beside him." My Strength has gone and I can ride no Further."
At this, the minister was filled with anxiety, " O sire, I beg of you, ride just a few miles more," he said. " We may then find a tree under whose shade you can lie down and rest."
On they rode across the barren desert under a scorching sun. But after a further two or three miles, Alexander was so weak that he could ride no more. Alighting from his horse, he lay down on the hot ground, gasping for breath.
The worried minister had but one thought- how to give comfort to his emperor and protect him from the blazing sun. To make a soft couch for the great king to lie upon, he removed his coat of iron chain-mail which, as was then the custom, was lined with forty layers of silk to ward off sword strokes. He spread it on the ground, and Alexander rested on the soft couch of silk. The minister then held his shield over the emperor's face to shade him from the sun.
Exhausted by the fever and tossing restlessly from side to side. Alexander chanced to look upwards and see the official's shield. It was, he saw, richly decorated with strips of gold. Then he was reminded of the astrologer's prediction.
"Oh, what a fool I was to rejoice over what the astrologer told me, " he groaned. " For here and now, his prediction has come true. The earth on which im lying is made of iron, and the sky above me is of gold."
It was at that moment the royal physicians arrived and examined the world conqueror.
"Your majesty," they told him," there is no use in trying to deceive you. At this very moment you are lying at death's door."
"Is there no remedy whatever?" gasped Alexander.
"No, sire, the fever is too severe. There is no medicine that could possibly help you now."
The mighty emperor was in despair when he heard these words. But despite his exhaustion, he still refused to believe that death could be so close at hand.
"O faithful friend, " he gasped, to his cheif minister, "announce at once that I will give half my kingdom to any man who will enable me to live long enough to have a last glimpse of my mother. What do you say , O physicians ? Could not such a thing be possible?"
"Nay,sire" the physicians were obliged to tell him " you have a few minutes to live "
Alexander was panic-stricken."To whoever who will take me alive to my mother," he cried out in a loud voice, "I will give up all my conquests, holding nothing back."
"Your Majesty," the physicians tld him in grave tones," there is nothing that can prevent your death now."
At this, the mighty terror of nations wept like a child.
Moral :
Not even the world conqueror escaped death, what makes us think we will live forever.Every day we take 24,000 breaths. We waste each of these priceless breaths in useless pursuits. We should make full use of this human birth to jaap naam

A jist of a lot
A path without love is devoid of life;If we don't inculcate love and devotion with our fellow gursikh brothers and sisters then how can we radiate the love of waheguru?
Without devotion, the attainment of the lord and the process to reach him are arid and unpalatable and are nothing short of emptiness and such a procress has no life nor a soul in it. So love your fellow gursikhs. When they say Guru Sahibs Fateh smile and return it...we have amrit in us not a ticking time bomb that would explode if we love our brothers and sisters....

Ponder
Many years ago we fell asleep by the sedative of the superman, but the mystic magic of nature wand says awake and rise again. Too long has thou slumbered, too long has time passed you by, your work on earth is delinquent and you cannot reign on high. If it's true that you've awaken, good for you, but your work has just begun, because thy brother needs awakening too, touch him softly, gently, aportion of thy light to him give, and the mystic magic of your touch will cause him to look and live.

Blinded and trapped
There was once a blind man who in addition to not being able to see, also had a bald head. For a Misdemeanour he had commited, the king put the poor fellow in a specially built prison designed like a maze or labyrinth.
The prison had a number of false doors and one real door that opened and led to the light of the outside world. By the King's order, anyone who could find the real door coupld step through it and immediately gain his freedom.
For a long time the blind man felt his way carefully around the prison walls, searching for the real door. But as it happened, every time that he actually came to it, he was distracted by an itch on his bald head.As a result, he scratched his head each time he came to the door to freedom. And as he kept moving slowly along the prison walls, he missed the one real door over and over again
We are in similar situation. When eventually we are born as human beings, we squander our lives away pleasing the mind. Thus, we Never escape from the cycle of birth and death. Distracted by the mind and sensesm We constantly miss our one chance for salvation

interesting
Today this old guy on the bus came up to me and started talking ..He was asking me about sikhs etc.....and then we ended up talking about the state of the world today. With so much killings, diseases, people going crazy under depression, drugs etc... something he said left a strong impression on me . Actually two things...he was like " For the world to become a better place people need to have a moral and spritual upliftment....and he stated that people who wants better for everyone should ask themselves this question everyday :
Are You contributing to the miseries of the world or are you doing something to appease it?
I was like wow...I didn't ask him what religion he was or who he was but i know for sure we need more people with those thoughts around.
I then searched STTM and i found this shabd :

ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਉਖਧੁ ਗੁਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੀਨੋ ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਜੋਗੁ ॥1॥

Goojaree, Fifth Mehl: Intellectual egotism and great love for Maya are the most serious chronic diseases. The Lord's Name is the medicine, which is potent to cure everything. The Guru has given me the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1|| My mind and body yearn for the dust of the Lord's humble servants. With it, the sins of millions of incarnations are obliterated. O Lord of the Universe, please fulfill my desire. ||1||Pause|| In the beginning, in the middle, and in the end, one is hounded by dreadful desires. Through the Guru's spiritual wisdom, we sing the Kirtan of the Praises of the Lord of the Universe, and the noose of death is cut away. ||2|| Those who are cheated by sexual desire, anger, greed and emotional attachment suffer reincarnation forever. By loving devotional worship to God, and meditative remembrance of the Lord of the World, one's wandering in reincarnation is ended. ||3|| Friends, children, spouses and well-wishers are burnt by the three fevers. Chanting the Name of the Lord, Raam, Raam, one's miseries are ended, as one meets the Saintly servants of the Lord. ||4|| Wandering around in all directions, they cry out, ""Nothing can save us!"" Nanak has entered the Sanctuary of the Lotus Feet of the Infinite Lord; he holds fast to their Support. ||5||4||30|| |
